NEW DELHI: Dwarka’s killer flyover claimed yet another life on Saturday when a motorcyclist plunged to his death after hitting the railing at the same place a family of four died on Holi. Police said Max Chinliensang Buhril, 22, was unable to negotiate the sharp bend in the flyover. This is the seventh death on the flyover this year and the sixth in just three days.

Police said Buhril had been meeting family in Dwarka, along with sister Rosy and aunt Mini, who were in an autorickshaw. He lost control of the bike while trying to negotiate the turn. The impact flung him into the air. ‘‘I saw him go over the railing,’’ said Ved Kumar, an eyewitness who informed the police. Buhril fell on to the service road below and suffered severe head injury. His bike got entangled in the flyover railing. He was rushed to hospital but died before he got there. He was a day away from 22nd birthday.

New Delhi: A 22-year-old biker died on Saturday after he hit the railing and fell from the Dwarka flyover. The police said Max Chinnliensang Buhril was unable to negotiate a sharp turn on the flyover.

‘‘He was identified with the help of his driving licence, which was found in his pocket. His sister and aunt who were following him in an autorickshaw also identified him. He was working with a call centre in Gurgaon,’’ said a senior police officer.

The victim was to celebrate his 22nd birthday on Sunday. “We all were coming from Dwarka when Buhril, who was riding the bike alone, collided with the railing and fell down. I, along with my aunt, was in an autoricksaw,” said Buhril’s sister Rosy.

A case of death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered at Palam Village police station. Traffic was disruped for a few hours on the Dwarka flyover. ‘‘This is the sixth such fatal accident reported in less than a week on the flyover. We had asked PWD to construct some speedbreakers on the flyover, particulary where there is a sharp bend,’’ said DCP (south-west), K Jagdesan.

On March 11, a family of four died when their motorcycle skidded and they fell off the Palam-Dwarka flyover. The same day, another motocyclist was killed on the same stretch.

Police say that owing to the narrow width of the flyover and sharp turns, twowheelers that tend to speed are the most vulnerable.
